He pulls at the staples and bandages . Sophie tries to stop him , but it ’ s no use - he ’ s too strong . Damn , blind rage !
She runs to the door and begs :
SOPHIE Somebody please help !
HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
A NURSE , 32 , makes her rounds . She hears Sophie ’ s pleas and sees her waving frantically outside Eli ’ s room .
SOPHIE ( CONT ' D )
( screaming ) My dad ’ s awake and he ’ s going to hurt himself !
The nurse ’ s eyes light up , like a winning slot machine . She rushes over and they enter--
PATIENT ROOM
Eli digs his dirty fingernails inside the bandages - blood seeps through the gauze . Now this is how you get an infection !
NURSE Please calm down , Dr . Mento .
ELI Where ’ s everybody ?!?!
( pulls at gauze ) What is this ?!?! I can ’ t see !
NURSE There ’ s been an accident .
