Police sirens ascend upon the house , followed by the familiar red and blue lights .
EXT . HOUSE - NIGHT
Officer Ballard parks the cruiser along the curb . Flashing lights turn the residential street into a carnival midway , as neighbors sneak a peek at the chaos .
He makes his way up the slick driveway towards the open door . HONK !
Sophie nearly hits him . She darts out of the car and blocks his path .
