INT . DINING ROOM - NIGHT
The two sit across from each other . Sophie eats her grilled chicken breasts and vegetables with a fork and knife , while Eli stares down at a puree in an ice cream dish . Instead of silverware , a metal straw rests on a napkin .
She swallows her bite and takes a sip of red wine . He sniffs the grey liquid and gags .
ELI What is this ?
SOPHIE It ’ s the same as mine . I just used the Magic Bullet to puree yours .
ELI I wish I used one of those instead .
( an awkward pause ) It smells horrendous .
SOPHIE And yet still retains all of the essential nutrients that you need to heal .
ELI Can I at least have a glass of Cabernet to wash it down ?
SOPHIE
( laughs ) Your post op instructions clearly said no alcohol . And we both know what alcohol does to blood .

SOPHIE Yep , and what does that mean , doctor ?
ELI Poor circulation to the skin flap--
SOPHIE Which will cause the grafts to turn black and die . So enjoy your water .
She smiles and raises her glass . They toast and Sophie takes another bite .
