ELI ( O . S .) ( CONT ' D ) Come on in ! I ’ m excited to hear about this week ’ s progress .
( a beat ) Can I get you anything ? Water ? Crackers ?
Sophie places the gun back in the safe and runs out , passing her dad and an emaciated BLAKE .
SOPHIE ( V . O .) I damaged the muzzle on purpose .
INT . PATIENT ROOM - PRESENT
Sophie wipes away tears with her sleeve . Eli takes it all in . The truth hurts , as indicated by the heart rate monitor ; it spikes , but eventually steadies .
A long pause .
SOPHIE I was just so angry seeing you like that . I mean , we just lost mom . I couldn ’ t lose you too .
( an emotional beat ) You ’ re the reason I wanted to be a doctor in the first place . You ’ ve helped so many people and I wanted to follow in your footsteps , but that afternoon it all changed . You were no longer my hero , but a weak man that didn ’ t give a shit about his family .
