MY COMMUNITY - Helping Hearts

You may have noticed this new logo on my web site.

8 February 2011

I learned about Helping Hearts in January from fellow Photographer, Jennifer Gilbert. She had posted on her Facebook Page that she had been accepted to join the Canadian non-profit organization. I looked into it further and what an amazing organization.

Helping Hearts provides free professional photography sessions to families with sick/disabled children. How could I not want to be a part of something like this? So I applied and a few days later received notification that I had been accepted to join. :) Yay!

This is another reason why being a Photographer is so exciting for me. I finally have a meaningful way that I feel I can contribute to people in my community, whether it be through Helping Hearts or events like our Mrs. Claus photo fundraiser last year. I used to work for a company that developed medical imaging software. The kind of software used to potentially save people's lives. But it's just not the same as being able to use my skills to directly put a smile on someone's face or warm a heart. That might not make any sense at all to some of you, but hopefully a few of you know what I mean. :) Really, I'm not totally crazy! ;)

The song that plays on the web site was created by a Helping Hearts supporter. Please have a listen.
