HULDA’S STYLE
Hulda’s images are
grounded in reality,
but with a bold touch
of the unreal. At times
disorienting, her
signature symmetrical
compositions and jagged
lines are full of energy
and her black and white
drawings are fierce and
emotional.
F
or Hulda’s entire life, she
always felt as though there
was something different
about the way she saw the
world. It wasn’t until much later
in life, when she discovered she
had Asperger’s Syndrome, that she
realized it wasn’t just a feeling.
It was a fact.
This discovery, startling and
somewhat scary, would be the
beginning of a rewarding creative
journey into the depths of her
own mind.
This exploration began with an
anonymous PicsArt account
called @myautismmind, where she
shared her creative interpretations
of the world around her.
Hulda finally found a place to
show others how she saw the
world, and several comments
and encouraging words later, it
was clear to her that her work
was meaningful to others. Her
anonymity lasted only a week.
Today, Hulda is a mother, an
artist, and someone dealing
with Asperger’s, and PicsArt
helps her navigate the creative
territory between all of those
worlds.
