NOAH’S ART
In black and white, PicsArtist of the Month
Noah (@noahsnel) captures raw images that
have a sense of intimacy and immediacy.
Noah’s shots don’t give the impression of
being calculated or planned: they are close
up, show unusual angles, and have an element
of surprise, like the camera isn’t there. That’s
hard to do, especially when so many of the
images seem to be capturing subjects within
arm’s length.
Where we really see Noah’s on-the-money
photography instincts, however, is that

so many of her shots could have been
missed within the blink of an eye, spoiled by
hesitation. Moments come and go, and they
tend to go a lot faster when close up. The
man carrying the wooden board was out of
the shot within the second that followed her
capture, the dandelion was clear of all of its
seedlings in the same amount of time, and
the woman breezing past the painting in a
perfect blur couldn’t have waited another
millisecond. Noah has a feeling for it, always
in the moment,
and always bringing us right in there with her.
