This is the fundamental precept for all photography but it is especially important for street
photography. Looking at the world as something to photograph is hard to turn on and off.
Learning how to “see” comes naturally to only
a few of us. The rest must learn to make it
second nature.
The world is controlled by words. Books,
newspapers, speeches, conversations. They
are indicators of education, civility and
communication. But we receive most of our
information through sight. Photography does
not need to be translated. It is the
universal language.
