AIRPORTS TRAVEL This planet is a big place full of big dreams. Big dreams translate into big ideas. Big ideas become big miles. Anyone who has ever lifted a camera imagines themselves circumnavigating the globe--until he or she actually experiences some of its rigors. If you master air travel, you can conquer the world. My first trip on a DC3 was to Cuba. Just stepping on board the ancient, venerable workhorse was a thrill. I have hitched rides on hot air balloons, sailplanes, seaplanes, UH1 Hueys, etc., collecting them, one by one, for my “bucket list”. Most long journeys begin and end in airports. They are the gateway to the world. You can go from first world to third by a short trip to the airfield. Armed with a computer or telephone, anyone can make reservations. The Internet is littered with websites and apps that make it easier to find flights that suit your timetable and pocketbook. However, in developing countries, it can still be a painful experience. If you travel often, learn to take advantage of the vast real estate that airports occupy. You can eat, sleep, shop, attend to your hygiene, communicate with the world, play games, see movies, and meet new people. There is art and entertainment for all ages. I have photographed many sights and events at airports. If there are no restrictions, make pictures. (NB: In some countries it is illegal to photograph at airports or train stations.)
