Perhaps the best time to photograph a winter
landscape is in the morning or evening right
after a storm. The snow is no longer falling,
and the view has yet to be spoiled with tracks
from cars and people. Perhaps I’ve watched
one too many holiday specials, but there’s no
denying a certain
sentimental quality
about Central Park
in winter. For this
particular photo, I
arrived at sunset
and waited until
dusk for the lights
to twinkle in the
distance. A very
slow shutter speed
of thirty seconds
and a tripod were
necessary to create
the shot.
