Many species of birds are hatched in spring, including goslings. These creatures may be small, but they’re quite active, making a fast shutter speed necessary for consistently sharp photos. At 1/250 or faster, it’s possible to freeze their motion while also preventing camera shake. Should you choose to share these images in a large print or on a blog, you’ll be glad to have taken the extra step here. On a camera’s small LCD screen, it’s difficult to evaluate sharpness.
