I can’ t even keep up with the number of new friendships that have arisen from CPC. We truly have the most welcoming group of people that you could ever want.”
A key instrument for facilitating that community is called CourtValet. Gold explains,“ CourtValet is the game coordinating tool our staff, members and non-members all use to connect with one another.
“ Players fill out the exact time windows they’ re free to play during the week, what kind of games they’ re interested in, and what level players they’ d like to play with. From there, they can see every player and game happening that they could be part of, so they always feel included and can play as many games as they want.”
For those new to pickleball, it’ s an immediate window into the club— a way to feel welcomed into the community from day one. For established players, it means managing their own network, knowing everybody’ s schedule, and creating and filling games on their own terms instead of going back and forth in a group chat.
“ Our Intro to Pickleball program brings firsttimers through the gates every week, and plenty of today’ s members started as guests. Membership is the heart of the club, but keeping a door open for the broader community keeps us connected to the growth of the game,” reflects Gold.
CPC leagues are built around skill level and community, organized by rating so that every match can be competitive, with formats scheduled throughout the week in men’ s, women’ s, and mixed.“ What we’ ve learned is that league play is one of the stickiest things we offer,” says Gold.“ Once someone is on a team, they’ re part of the club in a way casual play never quite delivers.”
The facility hosts special events as well. The CPC Winter Classic will be held Jan. 9-10, with a footprint built from the highly successful Calabasas Open in May.
With Director of Pickleball Gabe Joseph— a highranking PPA singles player— developing a comprehensive full lesson and clinic program, coupled with a vibrant social scene, the Calabasas Pickleball Club is the place to be in SoCal.
“ This is a place people come to spend the day, not just play a match,” says Gold.“ What’ s proven most successful is anything that builds connection— our data shows members who take lessons or play in club tournaments stay at dramatically higher rates than those who don’ t.
“ We’ re always tweaking prime-time court access. With a club this busy, weekend mornings are gold, so we’ ve refined block lengths and reservation policies to make sure every member can get on court, not just the early bookers. It’ s a great problem to have.”
