EDITOR’ S LETTER

In early November, when the final ball dropped at the 2025 Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships in Dallas, Texas, it wasn’ t just another title match being decided— it was a coronation. Anna Leigh Waters didn’ t just win, she rewrote the record books, raised the bar for excellence, and once again demonstrated how far pickleball has come— and how electrifying its future feels.
Waters sealed her 38th career Triple Crown( winning singles, women’ s doubles, and mixed doubles) at Worlds, beating Kate Fahey in the women’ s singles final— a match that officially pushed her to 168 career gold medals, making her the winningest player in PPA Tour history.
Waters partnered with Anna Bright to take the women’ s doubles title and teamed with Ben Johns for mixed doubles. In short, she walked into Championship Sunday with the chance and walked out with the crown— all three of them.
Viewership on broadcast and digital platforms soared: roughly 70 million minutes watched, 54 million social media impressions, and earned media potential exceeding 1.2 billion impressions worldwide.
Adding to the excitement this season, the USA Pickleball National Championships showcased rising talent that promises to reshape the competitive landscape. Sofia Sewing, the 26-year-old phenom from Miami, Florida, made a stunning statement by earning double gold— capturing both the singles and mixed doubles titles.
Sewing’ s performance at Nationals reflects the growing depth and competitiveness of the sport, as emerging players like her challenge the established order and inject fresh energy into the pro ranks. With Waters setting the gold standard at Worlds and Sewing rising rapidly, 2025 will be remembered as a pivotal year for women’ s pickleball. Stay swinging,
