ONIX SUPERCELL 22 PADDLE REVIEW

Look / Cosmetics : 4.5 / 5 Onix paddles always have some eyecatching cosmetics and the Supercell 22 is no exception . The logo is instantly recognizable , and the background aqua blue / green design is stunning . No edge guard , a tennis-like handle , a standard 7.5 " x 5.5 " shape and 16.5 " long . Weight is 8-8.4 oz . ( mine was 8.2 ). Comes in blue or orange themes . Handle measures 5.5 " long with a graphite face and a 22mm thickness .
Serves / Returns / Groundstrokes : 3.5 / 5 Paddle offers great placement and accuracy on serves . Targeting was spot-on , and baseline shots felt butterysmooth with this 22mm thick paddle . Noticed some nice dwell time as you almost feel the ball sinking in and out of the sweet spot . Very comfortable too . Just feels very solid and the paddle plows through the ball exceptionally well . Feels slightly head-heavy but not overly so . Slice returns stayed low and had decent spin . Seems to reward a compact stroke .
Touch / Feel / Spin : 4 / 5 This paddle definitely has a soft , cushioned feel as opposed to a firm , crisp feel . Spin is sufficient but there are more spin-friendly paddles out there . The touch is very good , and everything feels nice off the paddle face . Very little harshness to be found , making this a great choice for those with elbow issues . Dinks and drops were no problem and again , accuracy is spot-on here . This paddle is for “ placement ” players for sure . It leans more toward control versus power and would also work well for those dink masters who wait for you to pop one up .
Sound / Sweet Spot / Playability : 4.5 / 5 The huge sweet spot is just a joy . It seems almost impossible to miss it and just makes it fun to play with . The sound is relatively quiet and satisfying . Playability scores are high , and this paddle is very accessible to most skill levels , although some might find it slightly heavy-feeling and possibly not enough pop for their game . Nice all-around paddle that lets you hit your spots all over the court .
Summary : 4.1 / 5 ONIX surprised me with this great new release . For the moderate price you get loads of new technology and a paddle that won ’ t slow you down . Players who like long rallies and rely on accuracy and placement should give this one a go . The huge sweet spot and nice ball feel off the face are just icing on the cake . Give one a try and I bet you ’ ll be surprised like I was .

TMPR TERRA TC-14 PRO PADDLE REVIEW

Look / Cosmetics : 4 / 5 All-black paddle face , with black plastic edge guard , and the TMPR logo across the front . The paddle shape is mostly traditional but a little rounded . Measurements are 16.25 " x 7.7 " and 14mm thick . Handle measures 5.25 " and handle size is 4.125 " to 4.25 ". Perforated cushioned grip with a beveled tennis-like handle . T-700 textured carbon fiber face .
Serves / Returns / Groundstrokes : 4 / 5 Lots of power on full swings from the baseline . Feels like a balanced paddle between control and power , leaning more toward power . Spin was about average for a carbon fiber paddle . The rough surface did give me some nice diving spin on drive returns . Paddle feels nice and balanced through the air — not tip-heavy like some elongated paddles can feel . Touch / Feel / Spin : 4.5 / 5 I thought this paddle fared very well in all aspects of the short game ; dinks , drops and finesse shots were easy to pull off . This paddle has a dwell-time feel when you hit it dead center and it ’ s most noticeable on dinks . Soft , cushy feel , as opposed to a firmer , crisp feel . Really enjoyed my time in the kitchen with this paddle .
Sound / Sweet Spot / Playability : 4 / 5 The sweet spot felt a little narrow to me , but not too bad . This paddle is pretty forgiving and easy to play with , so the playability factor is high . I would say this paddle is meant for middle to advanced level players , but I think beginners could also use it successfully due to its easy power and traditional shape . But if you need a large sweet spot and have trouble hitting in the center , look elsewhere .
Summary : 4.1 / 5 TMPR continues to put out a very solid product for not too much money . Maybe not the flashiest or most well-known paddles out there , but they perform right up there with some of the top names in the business . The new TC-14 Pro gives allcourt players a nice alternative and a great value . Give one a try and I bet you ’ ll be surprised .
