courts smaller , and I love doubles . There are more styles of play than in tennis . I have been meeting people from all over the world and am super-impressed with the quality of play and great organization .” Those are words from a tennis player !
St . George , Utah , was hot this year , but players didn ’ t seem to talk about past years . The winds have shifted to the future . USSP ’ s Karen Parrish said that “ good things are forthcoming for senior players next year . Regionals are coming back .”
Karen played softball at this year ’ s Huntsman Games . She has made lifelong friends at the Games and said , “ It is the best athletic experience I have had in a long
time . The volunteers are amazing , and the venues are outstanding . The participants are glad to be here and to be a part of something so great .” Karen is going to use her leadership role in the USSP to have “ senior-focused and amateur-driven senior events .”
For pickleball , Huntsman leads the way , and it only gets better . •
Alice Tym was ranked 13th in the world for tennis in the ‘ 60s . She ’ s been named USPTA Coach of the Year and is a USPTA Master Professional . As a 4.5 pickleball player , she has won gold in Huntsman , NSGA Nationals , US Open , and USA Pickleball events around the country . Alice is an IPTPA member , SSIPA founding board member , Bainbridge Cup Originator and gold medalist in Spain , Italy , and Germany .
