Rules Update : Provisional Approval of Rally Scoring for Singles
Provisional rules for rally scoring in singles competition have been approved by the USA Pickleball Board of Directors , effective May 1 .
Rally scoring is an alternative scoring system that has been gaining in popularity , and it now can be used during singles play . Conventional side-out scoring is still in effect . By USA Pickleball granting provisional approval for rally scoring , it simply gives players and tournaments the option to utilize a different type of scoring .
The difference between rally scoring and conventional side-out scoring is that rally scoring awards a point to the server or receiver at the completion of each rally .

USA Pickleball Announces Select Series
USA Pickleball announced five regional events as part of the inaugural 2024 USA Pickleball Select Series . Competitions will take place between July and October in Virginia , Alabama , California , New Jersey and Colorado .
“ We ’ re excited to offer the USA Pickleball Select Series for our members to continue to hone their tournament skills in five great locations ,” said Mike Nealy , CEO of USA Pickleball . “ Whether it ’ s a players first tournament or their third , we want to ensure our members have the opportunity to compete in quality events to better their pickleball skills .”
Select Series will feature competition in a Round Robin format where players or teams compete with the top players advancing to the next round . These USA Pickleball sanctioned events will focus on competitive divisions tailored to an entry skill level .

USA Pickleball , United Dairy Announce Partnership for National Dairy Month
USA Pickleball recently announced a new partnership with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan ( UDIM ). The announcement coincided with June being National Dairy Month .
UDIM will help promote milk as USA Pickleball ’ s Official Refuel Beverage along with being an official Pickleball in Schools partner .
The partnership centers primarily on the objective of introducing pickleball to schools in Michigan through the integrated training of PE teachers , and fueling students by highlighting dairy nutrition . •
