Pickleball has quickly attracted some of the top names in sports and entertainment for ownership in Major League Pickleball ( MLP ). One of those marquee individuals was part of the enthusiastic crowd at Life Time in San Clemente , California , as the third event of the 2023 MLP season was in full swing .
Future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees , owner of the Los Angeles Mad Drops , avid player and overall fan of the game , was riveted to the action as his squad consisting of Julian Arnold , Catherine Parenteau , Thomas Wilson and Irina Tereschenko kept the Super Bowl MVP on his feet throughout the matches . The NFL ’ s second career passing yardage and passing touchdown leader , only behind Tom Brady , is perhaps keeping his competitive juices flowing with his ascension in the sport .
“ This action has been tremendous from the outset . I look forward to helping raise awareness around the incredible players and competitions in Major League Pickleball ,” said Brees , whose New Orleans Saints team won Super Bowl XLIV 31-17 over the Indianapolis Colts in 2010 .
MLP features two mini-seasons and San Clemente reflected its midway point . After a summer-long break in the action , pickleballers will return to the court in September
