This year ’ s Minto US Open Pickleball Championships saw record attendance and new talent , including Parris Todd , who dominated to win the Triple Crown . More than 39,500 spectators , and players from all 50 states as well as 20 countries — ranging in age from 8 to 88 — took part in the seventh annual Open , which had a $ 125K purse , the largest in the event ’ s history . Local stars Simone Jardim , two-time US Open Triple Crown Champion , and Kyle Yates , six-time Pro Champion , were crowd favorites . Other top players included Megan Fudge , Alix Truong , Hunter Johnson , Eden Lica and Rob Nunnery .
Known as the biggest pickleball party in the world , the US Open delivered . More than 3,000 players descended on Naples , Florida , to play more than 5,000 matches at East Naples Community Park , one of the largest permanent pickleball facilities in the world with 64 courts , including the Zing Zang Championship Court . Congratulations to the 2023 gold , silver and bronze medal winners ! Another spectacular event that took place in April , and is highlighted in this issue , was the inaugural Pickleball Slam at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood , Florida . Tennis legend John McEnroe shortened his stroke and changed his equipment of choice and joined tennis pals Andre Agassi , Andy Roddick and Michael Chang . Never has the sport of pickleball attracted a collection of tennis icons like this going head-to-head at the $ 1 million extravaganza .
