USA Pickleball Statement on Player Ratings
There have been several developments in the player ratings landscape recently and , as the National Governing Body , USA Pickleball continues to be fully engaged in discussions with all key stakeholders regarding the future of player ratings . It is an involved process that carries a significant impact on our community . Therefore , we are evaluating all options and opportunities moving forward . This includes taking the necessary time to make appropriate decisions , but also moving as quickly as possible in order to provide clarity within the sport . We will then broadly communicate the outcome industry-wide .
In the meantime , and until further notice , USA Pickleball will continue to use the UTPR ( USA Pickleball Tournament Player Ratings ) system in conjunction with

USA Pickleball Seeks Board of Directors and Committee Member Applications
As a 501 ( c )( 3 ) nonprofit National Governing Body , USA Pickleball achieves its mission — and accomplishes many of its strategic objectives — through the dedication of volunteer leadership . This includes a competency-based Board of Directors , as well as committee members .
APP Tour Releases 2023 Schedule
The Association of Pickleball Professionals ( APP ) announced its 2023 Tour schedule earlier this fall , revealing the first of many major enhancements to its annual calendar . Twenty tour stops comprise the schedule , highlighted by four Major tournaments and two Championship events : the Spring Championships in New York City and the Fall Championships in Mesa , Arizona .
Throughout the 20 tournaments currently scheduled , the 2023 APP Tour will offer opportunities for open pros , senior pros , super senior pros and amateurs .
In a historic first , the APP Tour will compete in Canada June 21-25 , continuing to extend the organization and the sport ’ s visibility and presence in markets across the globe .
Susan G . Komen Pickleball for the Cure Hosts Matches
The Susan G . Komen organization hosted its first-ever Pickleball for the Cure National Tournament in October for National Breast Cancer Awareness month . An archived stream of the event at The Tennis & Pickleball Club at Newport Beach , California , is available here :

Pickleball for the Cure is the first official fundraiser that offers players of all levels , from beginner to advanced , the opportunity to play a sport they love while raising funds for breast cancer research and treatment .
USA Pickleball Announces Sector Leaders
USA Pickleball recently created four sectors across the country with each sector including three regions . The purpose of the restructure is to improve communication and resource flow from USA Pickleball to the field . The plan included the formation of four full-time Sector Leader positions to oversee and guide the sectors and their regions . Managing Director of Field Operations Lance Cowart will oversee the new sectors . East Sector Leader : Heather Conger West Sector Leader : Connie Thrasher North Sector Leader : Steve Stone South Sector Leader : Eddie McDonald
