PADDLETEK PHOENIX GENESIS PRO PADDLE REVIEW

Look / Cosmetics : 3 / 5 Simple two-color graphics with the paddle being mostly black and the outer edges with the color of your choice . There are five different color choices . The Paddletek name at the top and the familiar “ P ” on the other side . Very sharp , understated and traditional-looking paddle . Comes in standard or thin grip sizes and the weight is right around 8 oz ., and it ’ s equipped with Paddletek ’ s Ultra Cushion High Tack Performance grip . Handle feels nice and cushioned with a ribbed grip design .
Serves / Returns / Groundstrokes : 4 / 5 The Genesis Pro feels like a great “ all-around ” paddle . The perimeter weighting lets it come through the hitting zone easily , making deep serves and returns a breeze . Groundstrokes had nice weight behind them and power was quite adequate . The ball seems to jump off the fiberglass face with a lot of pop .
Touch / Feel : 4 / 5 Again , the term all-around is appropriate , as dinks and touch shots were easily executed .
This composite paddle won ’ t feel buttery soft , but it does everything well and there ’ s a lot to be said for that . The paddle also seems to dampen vibrations very well and there was no twisting on off-center hits .
Sound / Sweet Spot : 5 / 5 Very noticeable large sweet spot on this one , which makes it a great paddle for just about any level player . The perimeter weighting helps when you hit a little toward the edge . The ball doesn ’ t just die like it does with some paddles . Very userfriendly for sure . Sound is typical of a composite paddle .
Summary : 4 / 5 Paddletek ’ s Phoenix Genesis Pro is one of the easiest to use and most well-rounded paddles I have tried in a while . This is one that anyone can grab and go play their best and it won ’ t get in your way . It strikes a nice balance between power and control , leaning a bit toward power . This traditional , classy paddle will suit a wide variety of players and deserves your consideration . Another solid offering from Paddletek .
