t’s hard to believe we are already three months into 2020. There’s a lot going on at
USA Pickleball. An update follows:
In case you haven’t heard, USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) is going to be
re-branding in the next four months to USA Pickleball. This brand name fits
in much more succinctly with the other USA Olympic and sport’s governing
bodies. More communications to come in the future on key timings and transition from
USAPA to USA Pickleball and be sure to visit www.usapa.org or follow us on Facebook @
usapickleballassociation and Instagram @ usapickleball.
We had over 200 applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The CEO search committee has narrowed the field down to six and interviews were
conducted on March 9 and 10. However, as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, a decision has
been put on pause.
Great news! Transparency is now available on your UTPR rating changes.
Previously you could only see the change in the numerical four-digit rating. Now you
can see how each match you played affected your rating. To access this information, go to
pickleballtournaments.com and login. Click on “show my profile,” scroll down the page
and under membership and rating information you will see blue words titled “UTPR
Match History.” Click on that and you will access the detailed information. Enjoy!!
We have a new board member. Joe Santoro will replace me in the role of Treasurer.
Joe is a former CPA and has worked in many facets of public accounting. He also has
experience as a seminar presenter and has served on a wide variety of volunteer boards.
Please welcome Joe as Treasurer of the USA Pickleball Association!
Our ‘2020 Pickleball Fact Sheet’ was recently added to our website! This is a very
interesting update on where our sport stands at the end of 2019. The Sports & Fitness
Industry Association’s (SFIA) reported pickleball currently has 3.3 million players
in the US! Go to https://www.usapa.org/pickleball-fact-sheet/ for more interesting
pickleball facts.
Finally, thank you to all who participated in our mid-February survey. There were over
11,000 survey respondents! Our Marketing Department is working hard to achieve many
goals, and this survey was a tool designed to help them reach these goals. They truly
appreciate your support and contribution!
Our world has been disrupted by the coronavirus crisis. We are all concerned and
trying to do what’s best. Pickleball has been disrupted along with everything else. There
is light at the end of the tunnel, and I am very optimistic. Our website USAPA.org has our
official statement as well as FAQs.
