T
he 260-acre Malahide Castle grounds were
the setting for the Dublin Open, June 5-7.
The spectacular garden setting of more than
5,000 species brought players from Finland,
England, U.S., Germany and Switzerland. Tournament
Director Debbie Brown and all of the wonderful
Irish volunteers worked hard to produce two days of
sunshine and one indoor day of play. Players arrived
at the venue by train from Dublin or stayed in nearby
Portmarnock, a picturesque seaside community.
Several players toured Trinity College and stayed on
to see more of Ireland along the Ring of Kerry and
the Dingle Peninsula after the fun banquet full of
Guinness, raffle prizes and laughter.
