Pickleball Magazine 4-1 Ambassadors | Page 4

PUBLISHER’S PLAYBOOK T ime flies when you’re having fun! This is certainly commonplace in the world of pickleball and 2018 absolutely flew by! My family and I rang in the new year in Mexico. We’ve enjoyed this BIG annual family vacation, first organized by my parents, since my oldest son, their first grandchild, was a baby. He’s now 23 and our group is 21 strong! Mom and Dad’s goal during this week-long trip was for their children and grandchildren to build and maintain close relationships. They’ve succeeded. Everyone looks so forward to spending time together. My wife Lisa and I first introduced our family to pickleball during one of these vacations two years back, and now it’s the capstone of the trip. The whole crew rotated every morning using the temporary net we brought. Vacation plans are already in the works for next year with a second net being added. We are excited to welcome the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) to Pickleball MAGAZINE . PPR has teamed up with us to provide instructional content and information on events such as workshops and teaching certifications. LevelUp Pickleball Camps are going strong. We have 94 camps scheduled in 2019. Tyson McGuffin, DJ Howard and Rob Cassidy have been great additions to the team. Pickleball MAGAZINE has recently partnered with PickleballScores.com, an industry giant in league software. The company has been providing the tennis and platform tennis communities around the nation with the most efficient, effective league software for 20 years. We wanted to bring you, our pickleball family, the best league software platform around—it’s finally here! It’s a perfect platform for the casual, unaffiliated players. Be sure to check out the feature on page 32. We hope you enjoy our cover feature on refereeing (page 42). It’s always good to hear another point of view, in any situation. Maybe it helps us to appreciate each other a little more. I now have an even greater appreciation for these even-tempered, intelligent men and women in the striped shirts. Also, after receiving several requests to increase the number of Pickleball MAGAZINE issues published—currently the magazine is published on a bi-monthly basis—we have added two “special e-issues” to the 2019 schedule. A Product Guide will be distributed in the spring and a USAPA Nationals issue in December. Again, this is just another testament to the fast- paced growth of pickleball. Until next time…please keep in touch and take care, everyone!
