D
uring the summer, Pickleball Canada,
in collaboration with Zoomer Magazine,
held a contest asking for nominations of
Pickleball Canada members over age 45
who represent both pickleball and an
active lifestyle. In August, Liz Peters-
MacDonald was selected as the winner
and Pickleball Canada headed to
Mississauga to meet her and participate
in the Zoomer Magazine photo shoot.
Pickleball Canada invited local
pickleball players to attend and
participate in a few video segments,
photo shoots and live play to give the
magazine staff an idea of what the
sport is all about. It was four hours of
set-up to play, move an item, re-shoot
and repeat—all while the production
crew moved seamlessly between lighting, make-
up, props and the coordination of players.
Thanks to Rene St-Cyr, President of the
Pickleball Mississauga Association, who worked
diligently to help in the coordination of this
location. Thanks also to the city
of Mississauga for allowing us
to use such a well-managed
venue. Thanks again to the staff
of Zoomer Magazine and the
players who came out to support
the sport and truly demonstrated
teamwork, friendship and
community. •
