Pickleball Magazine 3-5 | Page 85

heavy due to the long handle. Has great reach, plus easy pop to put those high balls away for good. Sound / Sweet Spot
Nice mid-frequency pop. Not loud at all. Sweet spot is larger than average size and feels nearly impossible to mishit a ball. The longer shape also causes the sweet spot to be located more toward the tip of the paddle. This actually gives you more practical reach. Summary
This is a great signature paddle from Ben Johns that should appeal to aggressive hard-hitters who like a hefty, powerful paddle. Engage continues to produce cuttingedge tech paddles that rival anything else out there. Highly recommended!
PADDLETEK BANTAM EX-L PRO Look / Cosmetics
Undated sharp graphics with a large Paddletek“ P” running the length of the face. Comes in four striking colors. Also offers a choice of large or small grip size. Has a composite vinyl face with an updated, thicker poly core. Traditional shape Bantam users will recognize, now with a little extra length. Serves / Returns / Groundstrokes
The new longer length and thicker redesigned poly core give the new Bantam Pro model an improved overall feel and playability. Serves and shots from the backcourt still have plenty of power, with the extra length providing a slight power boost. Power is high level and spin potential is medium level. The face is smooth and not overly textured. Touch / Feel
For a heavier paddle, this one feels very balanced in your hands. The thicker core seems to enhance control and adds more finesse to the previous Bantam. The Pro has better touch and feel for the soft game, while retaining the power that this model line is known for. Power is still the name of the game here, but with this update the Bantam is more well rounded. Sound / Sweet Spot
Nice mid-frequency pop on center hits and no worries with stringent sound regulations. The revised shape retains the large sweet spot of the previous model and mishits are kept to a minimum. Summary
Great update from Paddletek to an already excellent Bantam line. Takes what was great about the Bantam XL and adds a little extra to make the Pro a well-rounded power paddle that still can be dependable at the kitchen line. Fans of the old model should upgrade and, if you’ ve never tried a Bantam, this model is one of the best paddles out there.
