PUBLISHER’S PLAYBOOK M y bags are still packed after returning from the US Open in Naples… You may think it’s because I’m keeping them ready to play more pickleball; but, the reality is the magazine deadline calls me, and there’s much to share with you. From the amazing play at the 2018 Minto US Open to its third year of growth and evolution, every aspect of the tournament was spectacular! My family played and my wife, Lisa, won two gold medals, and my son, Tyler, won his first US Open bronze. I couldn’t be more proud, and I feel very fortunate that they competed and won in an atmosphere where there’s such camaraderie, friendship and sportsmanship. Not only is the annual celebration of pickleball growing in attendance and players, it was once again livestreamed on CBS Sports and also captured for future broadcast to the national CBS audience. In other growth-realted news, our Level Up Pickleball Camps are selling out around the country as fast as they can be scheduled. We’ve more than doubled the offerings available nationwide, added top pros to teach the camps, and are already planning for expansion in 2019.
