David Jordan Ends
‘FANTASTIC
RUN’

David Jordan and his wife, Nancy,
have been the cornerstone of the
USAPA during a period of incredible
growth. David has served the USAPA
since 2007. He first worked as the
marketing and sales director, charged
with developing sources of revenue
for the association. Then, in 2013, he
volunteered to be president after Bill
Booth resigned.
He and Nancy have been married
51 years. They have two sons and two
grandchildren. For the past 10 years,
they have been full-time RVers. David
spent 32 years as an educator—20
of them as principal of a Jr. High
and High School. His hobbies, aside
from pickleball, include water sports,
hiking and traveling.
When David first started with the
USAPA 11 years ago, membership
was about 4,000. At that time,
budgets were tight and resources
few. During his tenure, membership
has grown to more than 22,000.
David realized early in his career that
success in management is the result
of surrounding oneself with talented
people—and then getting out of the

way and letting them do their jobs.
One of his career highlights was
hiring Justin Maloof, our current
executive director, recognized as one
of the top National Governing Board
leaders in the nation.
David’s accomplishments are five
successful National Tournaments, the
St. Jude partnership, the membership
increases and the reorganization of
the board.
Regarding the future of the USAPA,
David sees the construction of a
super facility for the home of the
USAPA, additional leadership in
the promotion of pro events, more
emphasis on recreational pickleball,
and working together with other
organizations to create a better
network of player opportunities.
New USAPA President Jack Thomas
began in January. David will continue
on the board as Immediate Past
President, and he and Nancy will
continue their endless support for
pickleball. On behalf of our 22,000
members and 1,600 ambassadors, we
thank David for his tireless support to
the USAPA. •
And What an Era it’s
Been

It’s hard to believe I just completed
my fifth year as USAPA Executive
Director.
One person who has been a consistent
mentor during my time in office is outgo-
ing president David Jordan. Without Da-
vid’s passion for the sport
and support during my early years, I
don’t know that I would have lasted long
in my role. David understands pickleball
and has tirelessly gone above and be-
yond more than anyone I know in getting
the USAPA to where it is today.
I also will miss David’s dedication
and work ethic as the USAPA National
Championships co-chair. He and I were
co-chairs my first three years, and it’s
been so exciting and rewarding to see
how that event has exploded in size and
scale under his leadership and guid-
ance.
Thank you, David Jordan. While we are
sad to see you go, we are grateful for
your giving spirit and are encouraged
for our future.
