I went to the world's biggest
pickleball party and an
international tournament
broke out!
When we first conceived the US OPEN Pickleball Championships, we wanted to
create an international pickleball event like no other, featuring first-class facilities
and world-class competitors. And we did. Our first two editions of the tournament
have been successful beyond our imaginations. Players have told us that they
can't wait to return in 2018.
But the players brought their friends, many of whom (quite frankly) had no
intention of playing pickleball. And they stayed for seven days and just partied.
Looking back, we might have seen this coming. After all, we did decide to hold the
Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships in beautiful Naples, Florida. We did
bring in great musicians every day to entertain the crowds in our spacious EXPO
Tent. And we did make sure that there was always plenty of delicious food to eat
and a variety of cold beverages to drink.
So, you can understand our dilemma. Are we running the premier pickleball
tournament in the world or the world's biggest pickleball party?
Guess youʼll just have to find out for yourself.
