The next day, Matt Wright returned to action, winning
the Mixed Open with Lucy Kovalova. After winning the
consolation bracket, Simone Jardim and Daniel Moore
won a tough-fought three-set match against Wright and
Kovalova in the finals, only to drop the 4th game tiebreaker
15-10.
The Nationals reconvened on Sunday morning for the
singles competitions. The 10-team women’s bracket was
small but powerful. The event featured another 2016 déjà
vu when Simone Jardim defeated Irina Tereschenko in the
finals (11-9, 11-8).
The Men’s Singles featured the top 37 players from
around the world. Tyson McGuffin showed his skills and
endurance to outlast the field without dropping a set in the
competition. He outlasted Ben Johns 11-7, 12-10 in the
final event of the tournament.
