Happy New Year and welcome back to Pickleball Magazine !
Just one year ago , we jumped into the pickleball arena not really sure what to expect . What we have since learned is that pickleball has a very passionate following . Your letters and suggestions have poured in and we are very thankful . They have provided wonderful guidance as we got our feet wet . Many of your suggestions have already been implemented in the first season ’ s issues — while many others will be added in the future .
Here ’ s a snapshot of our content from 2016 :
• Over 100 articles were published .
• We had 28 instructional features , written by 16 Teaching Professionals .
• 16 Profiles ran on the sport ’ s top players .
• Our health benefited from 6 Fitness and Nutrition features .
• We went Around the World to Spain and Costa Rica and even took a cruise with the Moody Blues !
• We learned All About Pickleball : the Rules , New Equipment , How to Referee , the USAPA , Rankings , Tournaments .
Our circulation has also greatly changed since January 2016 .
• Barnes and Noble — Well , we finally made it ! Our partnership with the nation ’ s largest book retailer began in late 2016 . Unless we ’ re sold out , you can now find us at over 200 B & N locations across the U . S . and Canada .
• 100,000 + Circulation — Over the holiday break , Pickleball Magazine added three strategic partnerships to increase our digital e-magazine circulation ( Pickleball Central , PickleballTournaments . com , Prem Carnot ). These additions have raised our online readership from 30,000 to over 100,000 people per issue !
• Advertising Sponsors — Almost all of our 2016 sponsors are returning for 2017 . We ’ ve also added a few more . Contrary to most businesses , we do not actively seek advertisements from whoever comes along . We solicit the best manufacturers of the best products only . I can say with sincerity that the manufacturers in this magazine clearly have the best equipment in the sport . These are the people you want to purchase from .

In the December issue of Pickleball Magazine , we stated that Jennifer Dawson was the first person to win a National Championship event in pickleball and tennis in the same year – making her the first person to do so . Well … we were wrong . Turns out that not once , but twice , Joyce Jones won National Championship events in pickleball , tennis and badminton in the same year ( 2009 and 2010 ). So let ’ s just say that we don ’ t think anyone else has ever accomplished this amazing feat !
