Named Great Lakes Regional Director
The USAPA Board of Directors at their January meeting appointed Claudia Fontana as the new Great Lakes Regional Ambassador Director . Claudia replaces CJ Jermstad who was elected to the Ambassador Chair and new USAPA Board Member last month .
“ With a degree in Health , Physical Education , Recreation and Dance from Heidelberg University and a master ’ s degree specializing in Adapted Physical Education from Illinois State University , I hope to bring a fresh view and 35 + years of experience and knowledge to the Great Lakes Region ,” says Fontana . “ My immediate visions for the future will center on education and growth .”
She added , “ While teaching grade levels k-12 , coaching multiple sports and presenting college-level seminars , I hope to be able to inspire others to develop and bring pickleball teaching programs to their areas . The northern states of the USA are still just in the beginning stages to some degree , with the latest winter expansion of play . I would like to expand not only the summer venues of play but help to explore the possibilities of more indoor venues during the winter months . I look forward to working with all the members of the USAPA and am honored to be able to be part of the organization during this amazing time .” •
