Energies in hitting Hittin

Gravitational Energy is the energy contained by a position relative to others. During a swing the energy is inside the hitter, as the hitter begins his swing, his energy turns into kinetic energy. Kinetic energy, is energy the body contains while being in motion.

This kinetic energy transfers to the bat and causes the bat to move towards the ball. When the bat strikes the ball, the kinetic energy moves from the hitter to the bat to the ball. The kinetic energy inside the ball causes the ball to “jump” off the bat and cause a ground ball, line drive, or pop up.

There is also some kinetic energy lost from the bat to the ball in the form of sound energy and heat energy.
