Dear Readers,
In the 1989 movie Back to the Future II, Marty McFly and Doctor
Emmett Brown (aka Doc), time travel to the year 2015. That’s right
2015. This makes us less than a year away from hoverboards, selfdrying clothes, and self-lacing Nike sneakers. Ok, maybe we still have
a ways to go before everyone is jumping in flying cars for their daily
commute, but we are getting close on a few things. Smart phones,
tablets, and videoconferencing help us access people and
information like never before. And the field of medicine has been
reaping the benefits of these tools on a daily basis. Are you utilizing
technology as best as you can in your practice? I’m guessing many of
you reading this just thought, “You know, I would love to utilize
technology better, but I don’t have the funds or the time to update
my office right now.” That’s a very valid argument, but truth be told,
there will always be obstacles standing between you and your dream
practice. You don’t have to update your entire office all at once, but
during your next practice assessment, set a goal to update at least
one thing. Whether it’s a new analyzer, adding telehealth capabilities,
or adding a fee for service treatment, make a plan to update
something in your practice. You don’t want to be the doctor that’s
riding a skateboard while everybody else is flying b 䁽
