A Message from Your New Co-Chief of Staff
I’ m honored to introduce myself in this issue of Physician Pulse as I begin my role as co-chief of staff alongside Dr. Scott Parkhill. I will serve in this capacity through 2025 and then as solo chief of staff in 2026. I follow in the footsteps of Dr. Tim Halterman, who has been an outstanding leader, mentor and advocate for our medical staff— thank you, Tim, for your dedication and service.
I’ ve been a proud member of the medical staff at Renown for the past 17 years. I was born and raised in Reno and feel fortunate to care for patients in the community that shaped me. After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, I attended medical school at Johns Hopkins and completed my emergency medicine residency at UC Davis. I returned home to Reno and joined Western Emergency Physicians, where I continue to practice today.
For the past six years, I’ ve had the privilege of serving as chair of the Multispecialty Quality Improvement Committee and medical director of quality and patient safety. This work has allowed me to collaborate with many of you in efforts to enhance the care we provide. Quality and safety remain a deep passion of mine, and I’ m proud of the progress we’ ve made together.
One of the aspects I truly enjoy about emergency medicine is the opportunity it gives me to interact with colleagues across nearly every specialty. I hope to continue building those relationships in this new role and want you to know that I’ m always open to hearing your concerns, feedback and ideas for improvement.
I believe the care provided by Renown is exceptional— second to none— and I’ m excited about what lies ahead. The growing partnership with the University of Nevada and the expansion of our South Meadows campus are just two examples of the system’ s forward momentum. With the visionary leadership of Drs. Erling, Plauth, Parkhill, as well as Chris Nicolas and Sam Weller, I’ m confident in a bright future for Renown and the patients we serve.
Outside of medicine, I’ m a husband and proud father of five incredible children. My family keeps me grounded, inspired and motivated to keep pushing for excellence in all that we do.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I look forward to working alongside each of you as we continue to advance patient care and medical excellence at Renown.
Warm regards,
Ross Albright, MD, FACEP Co-Chief of Staff, Renown Health
