Kelly Tuveson, MD: Dr. Tuveson is an excellent pediatric pulmonologist, but she is also an incredible human. We have had a very challenging situation with a CF baby who was in the NICU and then later the PICU / Peds floor. Dr. T has gone above and beyond to provide excellent care for this baby. She is looking at the big picture of how to help a struggling rural family succeed despite many roadblocks and challenges from the inpatient team. She has gone out of her way to communicate with this family, who has other kids at home and can ' t be here. When the inpatient team told mom the baby needed a feeding tube, mom was devastated. Dr. T took time to call mom and talk to her and explain everything. The mom was feeling like a failure even though she did everything that Dr. T asked her to do. The level of dedication and compassion that I have seen from Dr. T( not just with this patient) is very impressive. She even got some supplies for this patient on her own as there was too much delay from the supplier. She is A +.
Anathea Powell, MD: I wanted to acknowledge Dr. Powell for demonstrating exceptional compassion, and integrity beyond an educational opportunity she had today. She recognized a patient ' s fear of surgery and the potential life-changing outcomes as the patient was experiencing external pressures to proceed with surgery. Dr. Powell empowered the patient by validating the concerns and supporting the patient ' s right to make an informed decision in their own time. Dr. Powell immediately adjusted the surgical plan, revised consents, ensuring the patient ' s wishes were honored. Not only was the patient put at ease, but more importantly, the patient was empowered to make choices for herself- rather than feeling as though ' life was simply happening to her.' Dr. Powell ' s actions exemplify patient-centered care, and she stands as a role model and a pillar of excellence for our profession.
Z Li, MD: We are so lucky to have Dr. Z at the Crisis Care Center. The impact he has made on our community members already is immeasurable. He is able to relate to all patients with kindness and humility, and patients report that they finally feel like a provider has listened to their concerns. He goes above and beyond in every patient interaction to ensure their safety and well-being and to make every patient feel important and validated. I am constantly in awe of his patient interactions and can see that he gives 110 % to every person that walks through the doors. He also ensures that the staff is cared for on every shift and is the best cheerleader and peer supporter. He is just the best ever and I feel so lucky that I get to work with him!
