Creativity Over Money

When people think of photography, they tend to think of big expensive camera gear such as DSLR, tripods, huge lights, etc, however that's not always the case. With photography on the rise and everyone feeling the need to take picture of anything and everything with their iphones, we start to see some talent without all that expensive gear and just a little bit of creativity. A Lot of people are under the misconception that you need these bulky expensive cameras to produce good photographs but that's simply not true, It's not about the quality of the camera or even the quality of the photo, It's all about the story the photograph tells. As a photographer, I don't just point my camera at what i'm trying to take a picture of, I take in the many different angles i can use and how each one may tell a different story, I take in my surroundings to see how it will effect my shot and the story that goes along with it, I use my knowledge to see where the best lighting for my shot would be. Everything stated above can be done with a cellphone camera, all the way up to 5000 dollar cameras, The creative process that goes into making a photo so beautiful and perfect is far beyond and has nothing to do with the quality or price on the gear. As my favorite photographer/filmmaker: Casey Neistat said “The best camera is the one you have with you”. And “Don’t wait till you can finally afford that dream piece of camera kit, get out and shoot now!”By no means is every 15 year old girl with an Iphone and an idea a photographer, however there our people out there that our producing great work with a low budget because of the creative factor of the photo. At one time or another, every photographer will learn that it isn’t the photography gear you use that makes great photos. No matter how much money you spend on cameras, lenses, or acce great photography is the result of some combination of planning, technical knowledge, an artistic eye, and luck before the effects of gear come into play.
