Time to Change—Time to Talk Day 2016!
On Thursday 4th February, Phoenix Support held a Time to Talk Day in aid of Time to Change, to help raise
awareness for mental health!
Time to Talk Day took place nationwide on Thursday 4th February. The aim was to get as many people as possible
across England talking about mental health. By joining together on one day, everyone has the opportunity to break the
silence that often surrounds mental health, and show that talking about this once – taboo issue does not need to be
difficult.
At Phoenix Support, we held an event and encouraged both Service Users and staff to attend, and discuss their
experiences with mental health. Throughout the day, we provided everyone with the Time to Change teabags, that
had been sent to us amongst other promotional materials, biscuits and homemade cakes, which were baked by one of
our Service Users. By having these informal things in place, this made the atmosphere very relaxed and allowed
those who attended to feel able to open up and share their thoughts.
Service Users were advised, by using promotional prompts provided, ideas of what to discuss, and enjoyed socialising
with their peers and members of staff that do not necessarily support them.
Craig Crockford, Project Manager, said: ‘Thank you to those that organised the day, it was a really good effort.
Everyone said how they did an amazing job, and the photos look great!’
