These large-scale expressions and implementations of capitalism and other problematic
behaviors based on our evolutionary neurobiology are not entities in and of themselves: They
appear that way because large-scale events are agglomerations of more-or-less coordinated
individual behaviors. However, even single events – especially when identified as part of a
widespread practice or trend – deserve our attention. A case in point: a few representative
reports from a single daily issue published on the progressive Daily Kos 11 website are
representative of a range of dysfunctional trends – some far more disturbing than others:
