Election Aftermath

Conservatives and Liberals worldwide got the shock of a lifetime as Donald Trump dismantled Hilary Clinton on election night in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. Many people suddenly realized that there are a lot of people in this world who think differently than them. We sure did here at Philosopher’s, and so we thought it was about time we created a politics edition of the magazine.

I promptly disappeared after the election. I was sick of reading about, listening to, or watching news and opinions. For months, I followed each moment of the race. From the good to the bad. In total, I must have watched at least a day’s worth of interviews and opinion pieces on candidates, issues, and campaigns. From CNN to CBC to FOX, and more on independent Conservative news channels in attempts to maintaining a neutral stance. Then, with a depressing realization, after election night I knew that nobody, not even the “experts” really know anything. How could the polls have been so wrong?

Questions on fake news, more Canadian and international news, if God can possibly even exist with all the bad going on in the world, and ethics on various issues like Body World have been pounding in my head since. Expect to find some answers to these questions inside.

The aftermath of the election has left half the country angry and betrayed, and the other half happy and proud. Fear has spread across America, with hate crimes seemingly breaking out every day. I along with many others have a long list of fears. Panic is so outrageous that even Chicken Little would be embarrassed! However, if history has taught us anything, it is that worrying about the president is a waste of time. All we can do is stand up for what we believe in, and in between then read up on how philosophers are reacting to the election! Expect to find that and more inside!
