Kim Chiu takes on her new role easily as she gets it completely
Kim Chiu was reared by her
grandmother that’s why her role in
“Da One That Got Away” is nothing
new to her.
“Laking lola din po ako so
malapit sa akin ang role na ito,”
Kim mused when asked what’s
the difference between her Mayen
character in “The Ghost Bride” and
Carmel in “Da One That Got Away.
As Carmel, the spiritista
granddaughter of lola played by
Marissa Delgado, Kim inherited
her lola’s trade due to old age as
“nakakalimutan niya ang spells and
chants”.
“’Yun ang pinagkapareho nila,”
she quipped. “Doon po sa Ghost
Bride, parehas naman po sila na
gagawin ang lahat para sa pamilya
which is ‘yun ang pinakagusto kong
i-portray na parang typical Filipino
na anak na gagawin ang lahat para
sa magulang. Ito naman, gagawin
niya rin ang lahat para sa lola niya.”
But the characters she plays in
the two movies are disparate, she
stressed.
“Si Mayen ay mag-isa niyang
tinahak ang problema niya. Sinolo
niya lahat, nagdesisyon siyang mag-
isa. Ito namang si Carmel, may mga
kabigan siya saka sobrang jolly siya.
“Si Mayen sobrang serious na
laging kabado, ito namang si Carmel
fun lang na merong maraming
barkada, may pinsan at merong
lola.
“Fun si Carmel at si Mayen
matured siya. Si Carmel kuwela.”
Having done several horror
films, Kim is tagged the Horror
Kim Chiu with Ryan Bang
Princess.
“Wala naman pong umaangkin
so baka puwede kong angkinin. Wala
naman pong umaangkin kaya ako po
muna kung puwede sana. Masaya po
ako na after ng ‘Ghost Bride’ ito po
uli, horror. ‘Yung iba takot sa horror
na buong horror. Ito horror-comedy,
dalawang genres na gustung-
gustong i-portray, na manakot at
magpatawa. Money-back guarantee
kung hindi sila matawa,” she said.
Kim gets a new leading man in
the movie – Ryan Bang.
Working with the Korean actor
was a welcome change for Kim.
“Si Ryan, given naman na
nakakatawa po siya pero sa movie
na ito nakita ko ang passion niya. Ito
‘yung passion niya na gusto niyang
ipakita sa audience, ‘yung kung ano
yung kaya niyang ibigay.
“Kapag nagme-memorize siya ay
nakatago siya sa isang sulok kasi nga
nahihirapan siyang mag-memorize.
Nandoon ‘yung kagustuhan niyang
mapaganda ang pelikulang ito,” she
said.
She noted Ryan did his best to
play his part well.
“Si Ryan, sobra siyang game sa
kahit na ano kasi best in adlib kami.
Nagugulat na lang si direk, eh, na
parang wala sa script ‘yun,ha. Minsan
nasasampal ko siya tapos go pa rin
siya. ‘Sandali lang Kim, wala naman
sa script yun, eh.’ Parang fun naman,
game naman siya, hindi naman siya
nagagalit,” Kim shared.
Does she believe in ghosts?
“Naniniwala ako na meron
talagang ghost. Meron silang
unfinished business kaya hindi sila
nakakatawid ng langit. Kaya minsan
iba. Parang gano’n. Parang iyon ang
nagho-hold sa isang tao para hindi
makatawid.
“Pero mas matakot tayo sa
totoong tao kaysa sa mga ghost kasi
ang ghost ay meron lang unfinished
business, hindi naman nila tayo
magagalaw.”●

Angel Locsin leads big-name cast in new teleserye
After the juggernaut success
of “The Legal Wife” in 2014, Angel
Locsin is set to make her teleserye
comeback in a lead role, this time
with an ensemble cast composed of
screen veterans and a newly minted
Kapamilya.
Locsin posed for photos with the
likes of Maricel Soriano, Eula Valdez,
Janice de Belen, and Ryza Cenon
in clips posted by talent manager
Biboy Arboleda of Dreamscape
Entertainment.
“Coming soon on ABS-CBN,”
Arboleda teased in the caption.
Dreamscape, an ABS-CBN TV
production unit behind the monster
hit “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” appears
to be producing Locsin’s new series.
In one of the clips, Dreamscape
head Deo Endrinal also posed with
the stars.
Locsin’s most recent acting
project was “La Luna Sangre,”
wherein she made a special
appearance following her starring
roles in the previous two installments
of the Star Creatives trilogy.
She is currently a judge on
the hit talent search “Pilipinas Got
Talent.”
Soriano, meanwhile, is making
a TV comeback after a year-long
hiatus. For de Belen, the new
Dreamscape series will be her first in
a year. Valdez, on the other hand, is
scoring back-to-back teleserye roles
after the just-concluded “The Good
Son.”
Cenon, a long-time GMA-7
artist who made the switch to ABS-
CBN just this month, will have the
series with Locsin as among her first
projects as a Kapamilya artist.
A title for the teleserye has yet to
be announced by Dreamscape.●
