Taiwan and the Philippines shine at TaiwanFest 2018
Old time acquintance Zosimo Llonora, nice
to see him after 43 years with his son Ron &
his apo Aaron Matthew, during the Taiwan
Fest Fete with the Philippines in Downtown,
Vancouver. We’re long time acquaintance
during my boxing years in FEU Tamaraw,
we trained at the gym of Doy Jacinto, L &
M Gym, Zosimo’s boss during that time.
He still remembered the way I sparred
with Rolando Navarrete.
MARIO SUBELDIA’s first fashion show in Canada
comprising this contemporary art
exhibit.
The exhibit is entitled
“Immigrants” and it infers the
dreams and realities of immigrants
in Hsinchu City. This exhibit was
opened in Aug 13 and will run till
Oct 14, 2018.
Amidst all the successes in the
different art medium, he has not
stopped from championing the
involvement of fellow OFW’s.
Through his events he was able
to open opportunity for other
Filipinos in Taiwan to excel in
artistic endeavors by providing
them the platform to excel and
reach mainstream Taiwan.
One of his known fashion
design work is his “basahan” line.

City which is the fabrication of
“basahans”. Incorporating this
material to his designs was awed
by many including his mainstream
audience at the Toronto leg
TAIWANfest.
Meanwhile here in Vancouver,
Mario was able to mount his
fashion show for the festival
here in Vancouver at the recently
concluded TAWANfest fetê with
the Philippines.
The show entitled Hohaiyan-
Mabuhay Fashion Show featured
his work starting with drapery
production followed by couture
works and finally a featured run
by famous Philippine artist Solenn
Heussaff of GMA.
This 2018 was a lucky year
for Mario Subeldia, a Quezon
Province native as he was finally
granted a “street artist” residency
visa in Taiwan and a few days
after was granted a visitor visa
to Canada to attend to his first
Fashion Show
