Nadine Lustre : 2017 Nickelodeon Kids ’ Choice Awards Pinoy fave
Thanks in large part to her social media votes , actress Nadine Lustre was named Favorite Pinoy Star of 2017 at the Nickelodeon Kids ’ Choice Awards in ceremonies held in Los Angeles last Monday .
Nadine bested Janella Salvador , Liza Soberano and Janine Gutierrez for the coveted award , which was based on the most number of fan votes cast through Twitter , Facebook and Nickelodeon ’ s official website .
Throughout the voting period which started last February 2 and concluded on March 6 , Nadine was the most mentioned # KCAPinoyStar nominee among the four young sensations . Following her win , Nadine was thrilled to get Nickelodeon ’ s Orange Blimp award and was even ecstatic to be poured with the event ’ s traditional green slime .
“ That ’ s not everything !,” she exclaimed as she noticed some leftover slime and poured some more into herself .
A video of Nadine thanking fans for the vote and getting slimed was posted by her Naddicts Official fan club and generated 781 likes and 954 tweets .
A tweet from Nadine ’ s official Twitter account was an even bigger Twitter hit with over 14,400 likes and over 6,300 retweets .
Now 23 , Nadine started her career at the age of 9 as a TV host for the kiddie program , “ Storyland ” on RPN . This was followed by another hosting stint on Disney Channel Asia before she signed up with Viva Entertainment and made her acting debut in TV5 ’ s sitcom adaptation of the comingof-age teen movie , “ Bagets .”
She was also a member of Viva ’ s girl group Pop Girls before later branching out as a solo singer . But it wasn ’ t until she became one half of the popular
Barbie Forteza a hit with Meant To Be
In our last dinner with Regal ’ s Mother Lily , we urged her to produce a movie for Barbie Forteza and her four leading men in “ Meant to Be ”: Ken Chan , Jak Roberto , Ivan Dorschner and Addy Raj . Their show is such a big hit they now have a huge legion of fans who follow them in their personal appearances and mall shows .
“ That ’ s true , Mother . During their last mall show in San Jose del Monte , 15,000 people came ,” reported one writer who was with us . “ They ’ re so hot right now and since GMA Films is no longer active , you should produce the film , even with GMA , so you can take advantage of their popularity now . Barbie has been ripe for stardom since ‘ Half Sisters .’ She should have been launched a long time ago .”
Meantime , “ Meant to Be ” continues to soar in the ratings because of the kilig factor that Barbie has with each of her leading men who are competing for her heart and attention : Ethan ( Ivan Dorschner ), Yuan ( Ken Chan ), Jai ( Addy Raj ) and Andoy ( Jak Roberto ). Each love team has its own group of fans rooting for them and wondering who ’ ll be the lucky guy to win Barbie ’ s love . ●

Ogie supports daughter Leila
Singer-songwriter / actor Ogie Alcasid expressed his support for his daughter Leila , who wants to try her hand at singing and acting instead of beauty pageants
Leila is Alcasid ’ s daughter with former wife Michelle van Eimeren , who represented Australia in the 1994 Miss Universe pageant held in the Philippines .
“ Well , sabi naman niya nirerespeto niya ang mga beauty queen . Siyempre nanay naman niya beauty queen din kaya lang ‘ yung puso niya I think is in music , and she also wants to do acting . So ‘ yun ang gusto niyang gawin ,” said Alcasid , who was accompanied by Leila at the 2017 MYX Music Awards on Thursday (“ I respect beauty queens like her mother , but her heart is in music and acting , that ’ s what she desires to do most !”).
“ Sino ba naman ako para pigilan siya ? Ako lang naman ay isang stage father lang ,” added the OPM hitmaker , who is now married to songstress Regine Velasquez .
(“ Who am I to stop her ? I am just a stage father .”)
Ogie admitted having mixed feelings about his Leila ’ s decision to join showbiz , but he said he will always support his daughter .
“ Lagi akong kinakabahan pero ( I am always anxious ) when I see her naman she ’ s excited and at the same time nervous ,” he said , “ When she ’ s happy , I ’ m happy too .”
For her part , Leila said she is looking forward to joining showbiz .
“ I love acting . I ’ m taking workshops ,” said Leila , who is also open to the idea of doing a movie with her father .
“ Definitely , that will be fun ,” she added .
According to Alcasid , Leila is undergoing workshops under Star Magic . She is also taking voice and Tagalog lessons . ●
Ronnie and Vice : Just friends
Hashtags member Ronnie Alonte has denied rumors he and comedian Vice Ganda are dating .
Alonte said he and Vice Ganda are very good friends as he asked his critics to stop putting malice on his closeness with the “ It ’ s Showtime ” host .
“ Napakabait na tao ni Vice , sobrang okay kami . Sa lahat ng mga nakakasalamuha ko na same ni Vice , sobrang okay lahat . Mabait ako sa kanya , mabait kami sa isa ’ t isa . Wala kaming relasyon . Magkaibigan kami nang buo po ,” he said (“ He ’ s a good person , we ’ re good . I get along well with who are just like Vice . I ’ m nice to him , we ’ re nice to each other . We don ’ t have any relationship . We ’ re good friends .”).
The “ A Love to Last ” actor lamented that people are quick to judge gays even if they do not know them personally .
“ Yung mga bashers , [ may masabi ] lang . Grabe nila i-judge ‘ yung mga bakla . Grabe nila i- judge ‘ yung mga bisexual or bading . Once na kasama , jowa kaagad , may something kaagad na iniisip ,” he said .
Although new in showbiz , Alonte has learned how to deal with his bashers : “ Nagcocomment ako sa kanila , nilalike ko ang mga posts nila , para alam nila na napapansin ko sila , para malaman nila na hindi ako naaapektuhan sa ginagawa nila . Naisip ko na ganito talaga ang buhay . Pinasok ko ito . Sinimulan ko na , mag-a-adjust na lang ako sa kanila ,” he said . (“ I make a comment and like their posts so they ’ d know I notice them and I ’ m not affected by whatever they write . I ’ ve accepted that this is the industry I am in . I chose this , I will adjust .”).
At the end of the day , Alonte said he has his good friends from “ It ’ s Showtime ” to thank for always giving him moral support . ●
