Pacsafe opens first global flagship store in PH
Keeping in mind the growing demand for safer travel , globally recognized travel gear brand Pacsafe has opened its first flagship store in the Philippines . The boutique , the company ’ s first in the world , is located at G / F Glorietta 5 , Makati City . It was officially launched through United Limsun International Trading Corp ., the brand ’ s exclusive distributor in the country . At least 10 more retail locations are expected to open in three years .
The new boutique will carry the company ’ s full range of products ( adventure backpacks , urban and leisure bags , women ’ s bags , photography bags , luggage and travel accessories such as straps , cables and locks ).
Pacsafe has extended its company ’ s global marine turtle conservation advocacy by providing a kick-off fund donation of P235,000 to the Bantay Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong , Bataan , through the Bataan Tourism Council . Present to accept the donations were Vicky Garcia and Isabel Garcia , chairs of the Bataan Tourism Council .

Robinsons Retail buys new hardware depot chain
Multi-format retailer Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc through its subsidiary RHI Builders and Contractors Depot Corp , has acquired a majority stake in De Oro Pacific Home Plus Depot , a big box builders hardware depot with three-store chain in Northern Mindanao .
The deal is the latest among a series of hardware store acquisitions made by Robinsons Retailer . Launched in 1993 , De Oro Pacific Home Plus Depot has stores in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City with combined GFA of approximately 9,400 sqm . The company also uses a 3,000 sqm warehouse in Cagayan do Oro that supports the three Home Plus Depot stores . Last July 2014 , Robinsons Retail acquired RHI Builders and Contractors Depot Corp , owner and operator of AM Builders Home Depot which has been renamed to Robinsons Builders , a 17 big box hardware store chain based in the Visayas region .
As of June 2016 , Robinsons Retail has 153 mall-based DIY hardware stores . The firm ’ s last trading price decreased 0.70 per cent or P0.60 to close at P85.50 .

Prince Retail to open 3 more stores this year
Homegrown retail chain Prince Retail Group will open three more stores in the Visayas within the year . The expansion , officials said , will be mainly in rural areas that have no access to modern retail facilities .
Unlike other retail chains that choose to expand in key cities , Prince Retail chief operations officer Rhea Go-Lao said the company intends to prioritize its key expansion programs in the “ underserved ” areas of the Visayas and Mindanao . The three stores slated to open within the year are located in the towns of Tuburan in Cebu , Larena in Siquijor , and Cabanatuan in Iloilo .
Siquijor , according to Prince Retail supply chain manager Rina Janine Go , will be the second island expansion of the company after Naval , Biliran . However , she considers the store in Siquijor to be the first unique island expansion since the province itself doesn ’ t have any modern retail shops in the area to date , with retailers limited to sarisari stores .
“ Our business model is continuously growing with the growth of sari-sari stores ,
especially in the remote and underserved areas ,” said Prince Retail president Robert Go .
Presently , Prince Retail has 20 branches in the Visayas and nine in Mindanao . For the company president , despite the widespread expansion of modern retail in the likes of foreign-format convenience stores , he is confident that the local version--the sari-sari stores--will continue to thrive , anchoring his optimism on accessibility and sometimes , access to credit in the rural areas . The company officials also noted that the Prince Royalty Card ’ s membership base grew from 300,000 last year to 700,000 this year .
Attesting to more areas in the country that remains underserved in the retail scene , Robert said three mayors have approached him , asking when Prince Retail will open in their respective towns . Aside from access to the modern retail format , opening one also provides employment opportunities in the countryside .
