Letter from the EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Year 2021 has been an eventful and quite a bumpy one for all . The pandemic took us on a rollercoaster ride as we experienced another surge of COVID cases in the past months which brought us to another phase of intermittent lockdowns . Despite these setbacks , we now see the light at the end of the tunnel with the arrival of the vaccines , and the continuous developments on finding effective cures to the dreaded virus . These good news promises us of better days ahead .
PHILIPPINE RETAILING
As we now approach the last quarter and the merriest time of the year , we in the PRA are glad to see that our local retail industry is slowly getting back to its feet after all the challenges of the past year . The improving COVID situation in the country is a manifestation of how working together overcomes any challenges we face .
Indeed , retail has stood the test of time . During the pandemic , we saw how retail evolved and adapted to the fast changes of the times . Retailers welcomed the challenges and are now changing the retail landscape by embracing e-commerce , and omnichannel retailing . Because of this , retail is back and is more than prepared to welcome back customers in time for the Christmas season .
In this issue , we are happy to share with you the story of Plentina and how they are helping Filipinos unlock their potentials in emerging markets .
Moreover , read about the latest news stories from our PRA Members and the latest developments in the local retail industry . Likewise , enjoy learning and reading more about customer centricity , future-proofing retail , and the relevance of NFTs to retail in Asia , and more in the features and columns of this issue .
We are also delighted to share with you the news on PRA bagging 3 Ang Susi Awards this year , and the recent Retail Employees ’ Day ( RED ) celebrations from our different retail members . This year , we enjoined retailers to celebrate RED to recognize the hard work and dedication of all retail employees in whatever way they can .
As we now head on to another year , may we all continue to work together as we tread the road back to recovery .
