PHILIPPINE RETAILERS SALUTE RETAIL WORKERS IN THE CELEBRATION OF RETAIL EMPLOYEES ’ DAY
The Philippine Retailers Association ( PRA ) joined retailers all over the country and across the globe in celebrating and honoring all retail workers last December 12 , 2021 .
On the fourth-year celebration of RED in the Philippines , the PRA continued to spearhead and promote the RED celebration with this year ’ s campaign that gives gratitude and appreciation to all retail employees for their untiring dedication and hard work to their service , especially in the past couple of years amid the challenges of the pandemic .
Some of the biggest retailers in the country came together to show their gratitude to their retail front liners last December 12 by giving out treats and tokens of appreciation , conducting mental health webinars for their employees , awarding and recognizing exemplary employees , and conducting various activities for their employees and their communities .
PRA members including Wilcon Depot , Golden ABC ( Penshoppe ), Bench , Quorum Group ( Toby ’ s Sports ), Alfamart , Primer Group , Riverbanks Off Price , Expressions Stationery Shop , Wacoal , and Sophia Jewellery joined the annual celebration .
The RED project is a global celebration to show appreciation to the retail employees — especially front liners . Launched in India by the Trust for Retailers & Retail Associates of India ( TRRAIN ) in 2011 , the RED was later adopted in various parts of the
world , including the Philippines in 2018 . Over 700 brands and six million employees have been participating in the celebration since then , with the largest participation in India , Turkey , and United Arab Emirates , and Bangladesh .
In the Philippines , the PRA has been at the forefront of the RED celebration in the country since 2018 , recognizing the importance of showing gratitude to the retail employees ’ incredible service especially during the pandemic , when the retail industry faced a slump as a result of intermittent lockdowns and store closures .
“ Our retail employees are one of the reasons why retail stood tall and became better and stronger during these tough times . Because of their hard work , sacrifice , loyalty , and optimism , the retail industry is now back on its feet and more than prepared to serve better ”, PRA President Rosemarie Ong said .
Over the years , the celebration seeks to encourage employers as well as customers to recognize the efforts of retail employees across the country and create awareness among retail employees of the significant role they play in the lives of the customers and in the business they serve .
