Letter from the EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
It has been over a year since the country was placed in a lockdown in an attempt to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic . Looking back , I know many of us initially thought that the nationwide ECQ will last for just a few months , but it continued to drag on .
Last year may be a year for us to stay in place , and many of us would have missed our planned vacation trips , our go-to restaurants , our favorite stores in the malls , and most especially our friends , family , relatives or loved ones whom we were not able to see in the stretch of months .
It was a long wait and surely a lot of things changed then . There were uncertainties , challenges , and even battles lost last year ; but we all continue to move forward and with the availability of vaccines slowly coming in , and at the same time , learning to live safely with the virus ( I know most of us are now more aware of proper handwashing and the importance of masks and vitamins ), we slowly adapt to the new normal . A new normal where we bring with us our new skills in tech use , empathy with people we come across with , value for our loved ones , and care for our employees and customers .
There is still so much to unfold for the year , and just as with everyone else , I am looking into 2021 as a year for rebound , for growth , and for more collaborations . We may not be able to fully regain what we lost from the pre-pandemic levels yet , but slowly we will get there .
In this issue , we are happy to share with you the story of Zilingo CEO and founder Ankiti Bose , of how she saw an opportunity from challenges to create one of the fastest growing B2B commerce platforms in Southeast Asia and beyond .
We have also shared the resilience of our members Alfamart and True Digital during the pandemic through their people-centric management during the challenging year of 2020 .
Likewise , indulge in reading foresights and analyses on our current situation and beyond from our contributors on the topic of e-commerce , digital transformation , sustainability , and more .
And as we tread the coming months in 2021 , always remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel---we just have to keep looking for that spark ...
