WINS GOLDEN AWARD AT THE 54TH ANVIL
The Philippine Retailers
Association’s 40th anniversary
publication ‘Legends, Lives &
Legacies’ received the sought-after
Gold Anvil Award at the recent
54th Anvil Awards.
The Gold Anvil is given to public relations
programs and tools that meet the highest
standards in their respective categories.
The coffee table book ‘Legends, Lives &
Legacies’ celebrates and commemorates the
40th Anniversary of PRA featuring the history
of the PRA, milestones in the retail industry and
the inspiring stories of success of the 12 pillars
of the Philippine Retail—the PRA’s President’s
Awardees.

It was conceptualized by PRA vice chairmen Jojo
Mendiola and Mars Chua, in time for the PRA’s
40th anniversary and was launched in February
last year in a special gathering of the awardees
featured in the publication.
Featured in the book are stories and profiles
of the Philippines’ icons of retailing --- Mr.
Henry Sy Sr. (Father of Philippine Retailing), Mr.
Fernando Zobel de Ayala (Pillar of Philippine
Retail Development), Mr. Jorge Araneta (Pioneer
of Philippine Retail Entertainment), Ms. Socorro
Ramos (Matriarch of Philippine Retailing),
Mr. John Gokongwei Jr. (Champion of Retail
Entrepreneurship), Amb. Bienvenido Tantoco
(Father of Luxury Retailing), Mr. Mariano Que
(Father of Health and Wellness Retailing),
Samie Lim (Pioneering Pillar of Franchising),
Teresita Sy-Coson (Philippine Retailing’s Woman
Visionary Leader), Andrew Tan (Pillar of Mixed-
Use Developments), Lucio Co (Patron of Micro-
retail Entrepreneurship), and William Belo
(Patriarch of Home Building Retail).
The PRA leaders received the award last January
30 at the Marriot Grand Ballroom, led by PRA
President Rosemarie Ong, Chairman Atty. Paul
Santos, Vice Chairmen Mars Chua and Lorenzo
Formoso, and Secretary General Evelyn Balmeo-
Salire.
The Anvil which is organized by the Public
Relations Society of the Philippines, is a most
coveted award in the country for public relations.
It is a symbol of Excellence in Public Relations.
It is awarded to outstanding public relations
programs, tools and, practitioners after careful
screening by select PR professionals and judging
by a distinguished multi-sectoral jury.
