It ’ s autumn and it ’ s a very cold start to our winter in Canberra . It ’ s currently -1 Celsius at 6 am - it was -2 Celsius overnight . I was in Lithgow and Leura recently in search of autumn colours but they were gone . But we enjoyed the freezing sunset at Lithgow and the
Enjoying Everglades Gardens in Leura greeneries and lovely white
bark of the eucalyptus at the Everglades In Leura . My longtime friends joined me my son James and Arden for the day which culminated with dinner at Sir Manong then back to cold Canberra .
Autumn would have to be the best season here in Canberra . At the start of the season , we locals can still enjoy much of the sunshine before we wind the clock back . And as we head towards April and May , Canberrans get to witness the changing colours of the leaves , so exciting and vibrant and it ’ s an additional thrill to our picturesque suburbs and city as a whole . During that time , we all get to pretend to be photo pros ! For me , autumn is Birthday season too . And as all my three children were born during autumn , that means its non-stop celebrations ! Add to that , my beautiful daughter-in-law , Kollie Chan also celebrates her birthday in May and this year was a milestone , celebrating her 30th birthday with family in their home in O ’ Connor , ACT on Saturday May 15 , 2021 . Book launch ‘ Kindness of Birds ’ with author Merlinda Bobis
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOD BLESS !
On Friday 14 May , I attended the book launch of Kindness of Birds written by award winning fellow Bicolana Merlinda Bobis . The Philippine Ambassador HE Maria Hellen B Dela Vega delivered the opening remarks followed by Professors Dr Lucy Neave of the Australian National University and Alvin Yapan of the Ateneo de Manila University . The reading and talk by the author was very impressive and creative including two songs one of which she composed about Lockdown . The book consists of 14 stories relating to significance of birds in our life such as the saying ‘ pagputi ng uwak ’. The book maybe purchased on line or at Dymocks . The event was attended by diplomats and community leaders the event being part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Philippine-Australian diplomatic relations . On 13 May was a milestone for Ella and Lance Bleach . They were joined by family and friends at a banquet dinner at Ginseng restaurant to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary . Wow I ’ ll be 85 years old when I get to that . They have 4 children and 12
