Why did Jaya move to ABS-CBN?
Jaya explained that her
move to the Kapamilya network
was due to a “dark moment” in
life.
“I think there was a period in my career, in my life, that
was pretty dark,” she explained
in an interview in “Tonight with
Boy Abunda” aired on Wednesday. “I would have to say na
madilim siya, mabigat and I just
said, ‘I’ll handle all of these with
a smile.’”
“Right now I am a Kapamilya. I would have to say na
ito po ay kagagawan ng Panginoong Diyos,” she added.
Jaya gave a hint about
her move when she performed
on Saturday at the noontime
show “It’s Showtime.”
The Queen of Soul also
named Erik Santos and Kyla
as key people who helped her
transition to the Kapamilya network.
“I was kind of independent for ten, eleven months,”
she revealed. “Then [Cornerstone] came up to me because
of Erik Santos, I have to say I
owe it a lot to him and I think
Kyla also.”
Although she’s
not yet sure when she’ll
start performing in the
Sunday variety show
“ASAP,” Jaya started being one of the judges of
“Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

Ka Tunying: Right where he belongs
TV and radio anchor Anthony Taberna could not be more
elated being with ABS-CBN and
for the longest time now.
“Napaka-supportive ng
ABS-CBN sa career ko. Maganda ang pagtrato sa’kin ng kumpanya,” he said.
Anthony maintained he will never
transfer networks even
after his contract expires by the end of the
year.
He said, “Ang
kagandahan kasi meron
silang tiwala sa’kin and
I’m sure magtatagal pa
’yung pagsasama namin.”
Anthony, also
known to followers
as Ka Tunying, hosts
several shows for the
entertainment giant including “Umagang Kay
Ganda” and “Tapatan
Ni Tunying.”
He also hosts
“Dos Por Dos” with
Gerry Baja. via DZMM,
the network’s radio arm.
Busy as he is, Anthony
found time to establish several
businesses in partnership with
his wife Rossel, including a salon,
a coffee shop and a bakery.
Ka Tunying’s Café will
open its second branch in Timog,
Quezon City soon. Specialties
include crinkles, Spanish bread,
carrot muffin, kamote cheese
roll, and bototay logganisa. They
also serve rice meals.
“Salamat sa Panginoong
Diyos dahil pinagtatagumpay
Niya itong mga business ventures naming mag-asawa,” Anthony expressed.
Rossel is also managing
an agency called Outbox Media
Powerhouse Corp..
“We organize events sa
main venues here in the Philippines like MOA Arena, Araneta
Coliseum, and ’yung recently sa
Philippine Arena. Nagha-handle
na rin kami ng clients from different multinational companies,”
she shared.
The company celebrated
its 10th year anniversary last
July 25 and Rossel could not be
prouder.
“This is something na sinimulan ko on my own, of course,
with the support of Anthony,” she
said.
It was a double celebration with Rossel also celebrating
her birthday the same day.
“Milestone ito sa dalawang mahalaga sa buhay ko,”
Anthony said.
As birthday wish, Rossel
shared she simply wants Outbox Media Powerhouse Corp. to
continue to prosper. “Sana mas
marami pang mga clients ang
magtiwala sa’min,” she intoned.
Anthony has a simple
wish for Rossel. “Sana mas lalo
niya pa ’kong ibigin dahil ganu’n
din naman ako sa kanya.”
“Mahirap kasi ang trabaho ni Roselle. Ang pagiging
nanay ay mahirap na tapos ’yung
asawa niya gwapo pa, sobrang
hirap kaya nu’n,” he quipped,
adding, “I wish her all the best at
sa lahat ng dreams niya para sa
kumpanya.”
On her birthday, Anthony posted a sweet message
for her on Facebook. Part of it
read: “Sa aking mga mata, siya
ang pinakamaganda sa balat ng
lupa. Pero ’wag ka, kung gaano
ang kaniyang kagandahang
panlabas ay higit ang kaniyang
kagandahang panloob. Isa siyang napakabuting tao na may
busilak na puso. Mabuting anak
at Da best na mommy sa aking
mga anak. Da best na Kaibigan.
Da best na Boss sa kaniyang
kumpanya at syempre Da Best
na asawa. Napakabait sa akin ng
Panginoon dahil ibinigay Niya sa
akin si Rossel.”
Mr. and Mrs, Taberna
make sure they spend enough
time with their two kids, Zoey
and Helga.
“Pinipilit namin na walang
activities on the weekends kaya
lang mahirap din talaga,” Anthony said. “Siguro nakakabawi na
lang kapag nakakakuha kami ng
break para makabiyahe together
ang pamilya.”
Rossel added, “’Yung
mga events usually during weekends naman, so most of the time
sinasama ko pamilya ko.” (P.
