Award-Winning Pop Jazz/R&B Superstar Patti Austin
Shares Center Stage with Philippine Filmdom’s Royalty Ian
Veneracion at the Vogue Theatre
Vancouver, BC
On April 26, step into the
enchanting world of Pop R&B
heavy-weight and multi-Grammy
Awardee, Patti Austin and the
much-revered Philippine matinee
idol and singer, Ian Veneracion. In
a concert like no other, dubbed as
“Soul & Heart” Canada Tour.
The show will take the audience
on a far-out magical high as it
takes us back on a musical journey
back to the music of 80’s, 90’s and
beyond. Reminisce Austin’s past
hits like, “How Do You Keep The
Music Playing”, a duet that she did
with the late James Ingram. As well
as “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “All
Behind Us Now”, “Baby Come To
Me”, “Through The Test Of Time”,
“In My Life” and many more. Her
album Every Home Should Have
One (Qwest, 1981) contained the
chart-topping song, “Baby, Come
To me”, her duet with James
Ingram, which reached No. 1 on
the Billboard Hot 100. In 1981,
Austin sang on the album The
Dude by Quincy Jones and on
the hit single, “Razzmatazz”. She
provided vocals for Roberta Flack,
Angela Bofill and Noel Pointer. In
2000, Patti Austin was awarded an
honorary doctorate of music degree
from Berklee College of Music
alongside
Trumpeter/Producer
Herb Alpert and VH1 CEO John
Sykes. Her musical accolades and
accomplishments are limitless.
Austin might also provide a sneak
peek of her forthcoming new album
entitled, “Let’s Do It” on April 26
concert. Said album pays tribute
to her musical hero and mentor,
Ella Fitsgerald, where she provides
crisp new takes of music from the
Great American Songbook.
Spanish-Filipino sportsman,
painter, television and film actor,
Ian Veneracion, is also a talented
musican (guitarist) and singer. With
naturally endowed good looks and
knockout sex appeal, Veneracion
could give any mainstream popular
country singers a run for his money.
He pens his own music and also
collaborates with her equally
talented young daughter Dids
Veneracion. For the upcoming
concert with Patti Austin, Ian will
not only perform his original songs
but also showcase his unique
renditions of hit songs by Joe
Cocker, Cat Stevens, Christopher
Cross, Phil Collins, Eric Claption
and Sting, to name a few. Listening
to his raspy vocal notes, one
can’t help wonder who could be
Veneracion’s musical influences.
Could it be Brad Paisley? Jason
Aldean? Or Dierks Bentley? He’s
definitely snagged the country
swag all right with his guitar and
raspy overtures. But Veneracion’s
vocal style is all his own. That’s
what makes him special. He sings
with unadulterated story telling
delivery and soulful honesty.
